My philosophy

Trust is where every step forward begins, big or small.

I believe that the foundation of successful work with a child is trust between the child, the family and the specialist. When everyone feels calm, understood and supported, we create the conditions for fuller interaction and development.

Why do I prefer to work in the home?

Home is a familiar place that can offer comfort, calm and security. Working in this setting means the child and parents avoid travelling, traffic and extra tiredness.

  • A familiar, calm setting

The child stays in surroundings they know and may feel more at ease.

  • More convenient for the family

No need to travel to a practice and no extra strain from getting there.

  • The parent is an active partner

The parent can take part in the sessions and receive guidance on supporting the child in everyday life.

Every child is different. The approach and the right setting are tailored to their individual needs.

More about online consultations

Consultation for parents only

A conversation with the parent, without the child. Suitable when you would like to share your observations and ask your questions in a relaxed way.

Consultation with parent and child

Your child joins the meeting with you, when this suits their age and needs.

Whether an online consultation is suitable depends on the child’s needs and the purpose of the meeting. It is an opportunity for conversation and guidance, but it cannot always replace an in-person meeting. If an in-person meeting would be more suitable, we will discuss this when arranging it.

For parents

Every child develops at their own pace

A few ideas on how to support communication at home, and when a consultation with a speech and language therapist may be helpful.

Information for parents

Short answers to the most common questions

All questions
What does a speech and language therapist do?

A speech and language therapist is a specialist who works with the development of speech, language and communication, as well as with difficulties in these areas.

When should I see a speech and language therapist?

When you have concerns about your child’s speech, understanding or communication. It is better to discuss your questions early than to wait for your child to grow out of it. You will find examples of reasons on the Information for parents page.

Should I wait for my child to grow older?

Every child develops at their own pace, but if something worries you, there is no need to wait. Talking with a specialist helps to judge whether support is needed.

How should I prepare for a conversation with a speech and language therapist?

It helps to write down your observations beforehand: what words and sentences your child uses, what exactly worries you and in which situations you notice it. If your child attends nursery or school, you can also share the teachers’ observations.
